QR Codes
QR Codes seem to be the Next New Thing.
Actually, they aren't new and have been used in Japan for quite a while. What are they? QR (or Quick Response ) codes are two dimensional codes that embed denser information like URL's, images or sound files within them. Users point to them with their mobile phone cameras and click, the app automatically resolves the code and takes the user to the embedded information (company URL, Twitter Feed, Facebook profile etc). Paul tells me that QR codes were widely used at SXSW, and were included in user badges that took people to user profiles on the SXSW page. Some even wore T-shirts with a QR code. We expect that QRs will explode, particularly as smart phone become ubiquitous. QR codes are a great bridge between the online and offline worlds. Expect to see them on business cards, physical locations like shops, magazines, TV screens, bill-boards and the afore-mentioned T-Shirts. QR code readers are in-built on Android and Symbian phones. You can download an iPhone app (such as NeoReader) to read QR codes on the iPhone. So check this one out for a link to a super-cool company -
